The American Marketing Association is the essential community for marketers. Within the Charlotte chapter, we’re fortunate to have a collective group of talented people working towards connecting, growing, and solidifying marketing’s role in the business community. That’s why we’re excited to launch a brand new series, Meet our Members, to showcase individuals who are performing at the top of their game.
This week, we spoke to AMA Charlotte member Tammy Tufty. Tammy is the Marketing Communications Manager at Domtar paper.
How did you get into marketing?
I majored in Communications and I have always had a passion for Marketing, Communications and Design.
What excites you about marketing?
Marketing is evolving at an exceptionally fast pace. I think the evolution of how technology plays a role in everything we do today is fascinating. I also am a fan of continuous learning so there is always something to learn to make sure you are keeping up with the latest trends.
What big wins have you had in your marketing role?
I would like to think they are yet to come. However, in my short time at Domtar I've been part of the team that has established their digital transformation (which is huge for a 100+ year old manufacturing/paper company). I've been the Editor of Paper Matters Magazine, which has undergone an evolution from being channel specific to appealing to all of our channels. I've also reinvented their pricing communication strategy.
How has your AMA Membership benefited you professionally?
The AMA local events are on trend and very well executed. I always get something out of our local meetings and the board does a tremendous job with bringing us fantastic speakers.
Who is your marketing idol?
I'm a huge fan of Jay Baer of Convince & Convert. He is my go to source for all things digital.
